Pinned tabs are gone when opening link

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.101 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Close browser with pinned tabs
2. Open link from email
3. The browser has no pinned tabs
4. Close browser
5. Open browser, the browser has no pinned tabs

What is the expected behavior?
Browser opens linked page and also the pinned tabs.

What went wrong?
The pinned tabs do not get opened.

Did this work before? N/A 

Chrome version: 60.0.3112.101  Channel: n/a
OS Version: Ubuntu 17.04

Unable to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome latest stable #62.0.3202.75 by following steps mentioned below.

1. Opened chrome and pinned few tabs and closed the browser completely
2. Configured gmail in Thunderbird mail
3. Clicked some random links from the Thunderbird mail app
4. Observed the chrome opened by default with pinned tabs as expected

elholandesdelacasa@ Could you please confirm is this issue is still observed on chrome by upgrading to latest version of M62.

Hi!

Sorry for the late reply. Just installed the latest stable version on
Ubuntu 17.10 - Version 62.0.3202.94 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Same issue.

The pinned tabs disappear when opening a link from the Thunderbird mail app.

The pinned tabs stay disappeared when closing and re-opening Chrome.

the same issue on chrome 62.0.3202.94 64 bit win 8.1 after set it as default browser through control panel. And the same  https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=789646
