Zip operation progress is not shown in the status area of Files app as well as in the particular notification |
|||||||
Issue description
Chrome OS: 10032.4.0, 63.0.3239.7 dev build
M-63 build
Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open Files app, create a zip file using zip selection option in Files app.
i.e. select few set of files in Downloads folder> right click or 3-dot menu> zip selection
I created a zip file of around 430 MB
2. Observe that 'zipping ...' operation message is seen in the status area but it doesn't show the progress.
3. Close Files app. A notification pops up ('zipping....' notification).
4. Even the notification doesn't indicate the zipping progress.
5. Even after zip file is created, notification doesn't show any progress and doesn't auto dismiss.
What is the expected behavior?
Zip operation progress must be shown in the status area of Files app as well as the notification. Once zip operation is complete, notification should auto dismiss.

It is currently impossible to show Zip progress in the status area of the files app with the current design. So we decided to show it in the notification center instead. Is this acceptable? I think the notification was observed not dismissing because zipping operation was taking very long time and was still in progress due to Issue 714579 . Please confirm after that issue is fixed.

I think this issue is about missing progress in both status area and notification. According to the bug description, this issue happened on Downloads. The fix for Issue 714579 will not affect this one.
