Black screen

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13) AppleWebKit/604.1.38 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/11.0 Safari/604.1.38

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go on a website
2. Let Chrome in background with several opened tabs
3. Back to Chrome after a few minutes, hello : a black tab

What is the expected behavior?
Just show the content of the website page

What went wrong?
The window content is totally black. It seems that links are still available, but nothing is visible but a black screen

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Is it a problem with a plugin? No 

Did this work before? Yes Same version but on Sierra.

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 61.0.3163.100  Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.13
Flash Version: 

This black screen appeared twice since I upgraded to High Sierra and only on Chrome.

Same issue. I'm still on Sierra and have it.

Looks like a possibly similar underlying cause to  bug 777205 .

Thanks for the report. There were several known issues with NVidia GPUs on High Sierra. Do you happen to have an NVidia mac? If so, I expect this is a duplicate of  issue 773705 .

Can you please try upgrading to Chrome 62 (if you haven't gotten it yet, go to help > about google chrome, and it should offer the upgrade)
I do not have an Nvidia Mac and still have the issue. I upgraded to the latest Chrome Canary build today (am not home, can't get the number, but I'll post it later if requested) and the issue persisted.
Issue still persists and is getting upsetting. I have to restart Canary more than 5 times a day due to it. It's getting to the point that I'm considering to switch browsers. Please address this issue soon.
