Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 9765.81.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.120 Safari/537.36 Platform: 9765.81.0 (Official Build) stable-channel peppy Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. update chromebook to ChromeOS 61 2. install app 3. run app What is the expected behavior? main (Lobby) screen should show icons for creating a new program, and display icons for any program previously written in the app. What went wrong? lobby screen is blank with no way to start a new program or edit an old one: We have a 1:1 deployment of Acer C720-2844 Chromebooks, on many of which we use the Mindstorms EV3 programming app. Last week, while troubleshooting a bluetooth issue with these Chromebooks and our EV3 bricks with LEGO support, I updated a Chromebook to the current ChromeOS version (61.0.3163.120). Once updated, the Mindstorms app would load normally, but would not display the New Program icon or icons for any of the programs I had previously worked on in the lobby. I found that if I clicked blank space where I knew the 'new program' icon SHOULD be, it would open a new programming window, and if I returned to the lobby later the icon for the new program would appear. The other icons (new program, and previous programs) were still not showing.... just blank background where they should be. If I closed the app, and restarted it, ALL of the icons would disappear, including the new one I had just made. I Found that if I clicked on the space where a program should be, a rename box would come up. if I just hit enter the naming box would go away, but the lobby background would remain blank. Clicking on it simply brought up the rename dialogue again. If I renamed the program, an Icon would appear in the lobby, and I could then access the program and edit it. Closing and reopening the mindstorms app resulted in the programs recovered in this way disappearing again. Clicking on the duplicate icon and then clicking select all resulted in creating accessible copies of previous programs, but the originals remained empty spaces as before. Restarting the mindstorms app after doing this also resulted in a blank lobby, but duplicating after restart would make copies of the original program, and the copies made before the app restart. LEGO support walked me through various steps to try to resolve the problem (disconnecting and reconnecting drive data, uninstall/reinstall app, clearing caches, removing app access from drive) and mentioned that they thought the menus were flash driven, and we put flash exceptions in for several lego sites. At the time the display issue was not affecting our users, so we moved on to resolve the bluethooth issue I originally called about. Unfortunately many of our chromebooks started updating to ChromeOS 61 this week and it is impacting several of our students who are using EV3's as part of a robotics class. I have tried all of the previous troubleshooting steps above in several different orders, as well as powerwashing a chromebook. Interestingly if you powerwash and reinstall the Mindstorms app, all of the previous programs AND the new program icons will show up in the lobby the FIRST time you run the app. any time after that that you run the app, they are not displayed (regardless of logout, shutdown, etc). If you log into any chromebook running ChromeOS 60 or earlier with the same account, ALL icons show up and are accessible. This behavior was not seen in ChromeOS 60.0.3112.114 using the same flash as 61.0.3163.120 (see output of chrome://flash for both versions below) The only thing at all that I found in the ChromeOS update logs at all that looks like it could affect display was the removal of the flags and back end code for the 'Prefer HTML over Flash' and 'run all flash in allow mode' flags (see Chromium Issue 709550 : 709550 - Remove "Prefer HTML over Flash" from chrome://flags - chromium - Monorail) WebStore page: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lego-mindstorms-education/jhnhfnolmcleankdkhfklakpchnccipg?hl=en-US Did this work before? Yes 60.0.3112.114 Chrome version: 61.0.3163.120 Channel: stable OS Version: 9765.81.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0 |
