Video glitching and full system crashing after undetermined time after High Sierra install

Reported by judas....@gmail.com, Oct 16 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13) AppleWebKit/604.1.38 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/11.0 Safari/604.1.38

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Run multiple instances of Chrome in multiple spaces
2. Do normal stuff on all of them
3. Video glitching and sometimes full system freeze happens

What is the expected behavior?
Running normally.

What went wrong?
Described above. Was not a problem till High Sierra update. Even without full system crash, once video starts glitching, Chrome must be shut down and will not operate smoothly till the system is restarted.

Did this work before? Yes N/A OS compatibility issue

Chrome version: 61.0.3163.100 Channel: n/a
OS Version: OS X 10.13
Flash Version: Not using

Probably a GPU issue?

Interesting... That would imply the problem is on Apple's end. I'm waiting on updates from either to see what happens, but it's really screwing up my productivity.

judas.loc@, are you able to attach the contents of about:gpu (navigate to about:gpu, save-as website, complete)? This will help us identify the issue. I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate of issue 773705 .

Comment 5 by judas....@gmail.com, Oct 20 2017

It does sound similar... I'll have to wait for the next one to screw up graphics rendering.

Comment 6 by judas....@gmail.com, Oct 20 2017

I'm new to this dev thread... Can you tell me how to get to the "about:gpu" you are referring to?
Happens to me on a daily basis. Sometimes artefacts from a previous visited website (in a different tab) is shown glitching where the video should be playing.
Happening to a few iMac users on my end as well running High Sierra 10.13 - artifacts, form fields being blanked out and flashing white, tabs within Chrome being "ghosted" across to other tabs - all since update to High Sierra.

This is occurring on 21.5" and 27" iMacs from Late 2013, GPUs affected: NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M and Intel Iris Pro

Yes... I am running on this exact iMac and Video card. Artifacts are random, but all similar to what's being described.
Happy to know the issue with late 2013 iMacs running GT 755M and High Sierra doesn't mean that my iMac is dying.
I have the same issue, it's very annoying
Newest MacOS update does not resolve issue. Issue seems to be especially bad in Google Docs, especially sheets.

as per c#12, this is a general rendering issue but not video specific bug, probably related to composition. give to blink team.

This is almost certainly a duplicate of issue 773705 given the Nvidia GPU and High Sierra aspects. Over to ericrk@ to sanity check.
Re #14 - almost certainly the same issue.

Simon@ (or anyone else on the bug with an affected machine), can you confirm that you've seen this on a late 2013 iMac with no NVidia card (Intel Iris)? I haven't seen this issues outside of NVidia machines.

Duping this to 773705. If this turns out to be a different issue, please re-open.
