Omnibox deletes character and stops autocomplete when adding vowel to Thai letter |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionFiling a bug on behalf of me@jirayu.in.th as this seems like a not great issue for Thai users today --- Chrome Version: 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) OS: macOS 10.13 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Search something in address bar which has upper or lower vowels in the sentence or word (eg: เส้นศูนย์สูตร or ประวัติศาสตร์) (2) Make sure Chrome remember the sentence and offer it as autocomplete next time (3) Try typing the same word or sentence again What is the expected result? - Able to type pass the upper or lower vowels What happens instead? - https://youtu.be/paDqa0V6O3Q Thai writing system has upper and lower vowels. When chrome suggested an autocomplete on address bar and you keep typing, when you reach upper/lower vowel, autocomplete will cut-off and delete previous character with it. Here is Example I am typing "เส..." and chrome give me "เส้นสูตรสูตร" as auto complete. And I continue typing ้ (little vowel above ส) into it. instead of getting "เส้...", autocomplete cut-off and delete ส with it. typed became "เ้" instead of "เส้" Note: In Thai writing system there is no space between word. Since It can't type pass "เส้น" in "เส้นศูนย์สูตร", we will not able to type anything started with "เส้น" such as "เส้นทางสายไหม" or "เส้นก๋วยเตี๋ยว" again

For the record, I think the root cause of this is likely the same as in bug 603883. (I'm not sure enough to merge though.) I'm going to check what's up with that one.
