CSS Table display not restoring

Reported by master.s...@gmail.com, Oct 9 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.100 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Have a page with CSS table-* display elements
2. Interrupt the elements flow by inserting other elements (in the attached example, shrink the window: hr elements appear and divide the row)
3. Hide inserted elements, either with display:none or deleting them from code (in my case, resize the window).

What is the expected behavior?
The table flow must be restored when interrupting elements disappear.

What went wrong?
Table layout remains as if interrupting elements were still there.

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Is it a problem with a plugin? No

Did this work before? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 61.0.3163.100 Channel: stable
OS Version: Windows 10
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0

Same issue on Webkit Opera. IE and FF table layout restore as expected.

Able to reproduce the issue on latest Chrome Stable(61.0.3163.100) and previous stable(60.0.3112.113) on Windows 10,Mac and Linux.

Note : I see similar behavior on 62.0.3202.45 and 63.0.3230.0
I wouldn't be surprised if this has been broken for eternity, but maybe the bisect will turn something up.
