Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: The new default behavior when playing a fullscreen video on Android 8, is that when user clicks the android home button, video will keep playing in a minimized floating rectangle. This default behavior may make sense for some videos, but not for all. Interactive video, or videos that display overlays on top of the media, should be able to opt out. Maybe some <video> attribute could be used to denote that a video element should not be used for picture-in-picture? Here's an example of a video where picture-in-picture is undesirable: https://video.helloeko.com/v/MOwJdM What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? Can't opt out of PiP mode. Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 61.0.3163.98 Channel: stable OS Version: 8.0.0 Flash Version:

This is something we are looking at in the context of the Picture-in-Picture API. The current idea would be to have an attribute to disable auto-pip.

A new disablePictureInPicture attribute has been added as part of the Picture-in-Picture Web API: https://wicg.github.io/picture-in-picture/#disable-pip The Picture-in-Picture Web API is not launched on Android yet though. |
