Error 1722

Reported by sam.g...@gmail.com, Oct 3 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.115 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. try installing Chrome for business v56 on top of v48 as an administrator
2. followed https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=142126
3. Still error as in step 1 above.

What is the expected behavior?
Error: There is a problem with the windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.
Log attached.

What went wrong?
I too am having this problem on a Windows Server 2008 R2 with Remote Desktop Services.

Installing via elevated command line, after changing to install mode:
msiexec /i "googlechromestandaloneenterprise_v56_x32.msi" NOGOOGLEUPDATING=1 /qn /l* C:\Windows\Temp\Chromev56.log

I've manually removed all references to SOFTWARE\Google\Update\ from the registry; no luck.

Checking the google update is not in the taskmanager

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 56.0.2924.87 Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
Flash Version: 10 activeX

This issue is only in the Windows 2008 32 bit server environment.
The same version is deployed successfully in the Windows 7 desktop environment.
We have Chrome GPO templates.

Microsoft Windows version 6.0.6002 with Citrix XenApp 5.0.
The msi for Chrome 56 will take care of uninstalling v48 but I can also add the uninstall string for v48 in the script that would be deployed through SCCM once the issue is resolved.

Hi. Could you check for C:\Windows\Temp\chrome_installer.log and attach it? Thanks.

Removing Enterprise label as this is not an enterprise specific feature.

Due to lack of user feedback closing this issue.

Please feel free to raise a new one if you find any chrome issue further.
Thanks..!
