both on Ubuntu 17.04 (x86_64; LXDE)

Repeatable on other computers

Please update to Chrome 61, the current stable version and report the results. With chrome 62 (beta), the animations appear smooth.

The symptoms are still present in Chrome 61 on Ubuntu 17.04. You can see it when the periodic table in the demo rotates about the vertical z-axis.

Ah, I see that now, on Chrome 62 (beta) as well.

This is JS driven animation of 3D transforms. My guess is that we are stalling trying to update something or other.

The implication is that there is a regression here. Can someone from Opera tell us which Chromium revision are spanned by Opera 46.0.2597.39 and Opera 48.0.2685.32?

Opera 46.0.2597.39 -> Chromium 59.0.3071.115
Opera 48.0.2685.32 -> Chromium 61.0.3163.91
