Audio loadeddata event not firing as expected in latest Android Chrome

Reported by gutta.ki...@gmail.com, Oct 1 2017

Issue description

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open url https://jsfiddle.net/f5gya04u/ in Android Chrome
2. Click play on the audio controls and the Loaded alert appears.
3. The same url shows alert immediately after the audio is loaded in other browsers, including Desktop Chrome.

What is the expected behavior?
onloadeddata event should fire as soon as the audio data is loaded.

What went wrong?
onloadeddata event is firing at playback start, instead of at the end of load.

Did this work before? Yes Chrome 60

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 61.0.3163.98 Channel: stable
OS Version: 7.1
Flash Version:

Able to reproduce the issue in Android and Desktop as well. Observed the audio pop up.

Steps Followed
1. Navigated to PlayStore
2. Observed the pop up

Chrome versions tested
61.0.3163.98, 61.0.3163.100 , 63.0.3226.0

OS
Android 7.1.2, 6.0.1, Linux Ubuntu 14.04, Mac 10.12.6 and Win 10.

Android Devices
7.1.2 Pixel XL Build/N2G48E, 6.0.1: SM-J710F Build/MMB29K,

This seems to be a Non-Regression issue as same behavior is seen since M50 for Desktop and M58 for Android. Untriaged for further input's on this issue.

Same is observed in M63 as well

I tried on both 61.0.3163.79 and 63.0.3230.0 and could not replicate. The audio pop up does display but as soon as the page loads (same as sandeepkumars@ video). This is the correct behavior as Chrome is pre-loading the video so onloadeddata is being called when it has loaded the video.

@gutta.kiran: Could you please take a look at comment #3 and give us the update.

Thanks!!

Most likely, this issue has been filed with Chrome Android running with Data Saver on. This will block preloading the player until the playback actually starts, thus delaying the 'loadeddata' event. This is actually working as intended.
