No keyup event produced from physical keyboard backspace on Android

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Set up an Android device with a physical keyboard (I'm using a Pixel C tablet with the Pixel C keyboard)
(2) Go to https://w3c.github.io/uievents/tools/key-event-viewer.html
(3) Click in the input box and type "backspace"

What is the expected result?

Should be both keydown and keyup events produced (as well as beforeinput).

What happens instead?

Only keydown and beforeinput events are produced.
