Shrike@ can we have anybody with 10.13 image to investigate this? 10.13 is shipping on Monday and this sounds like a serious issue that may be impacting stable too.

Reassigning to pucchakayala@, shrike to cc. As mentioned above please confirm this and check if it impacts the stable build too. 10.13 is shipping very soon (9/25/2017).

> Steps to reproduce the problem: > 1. Download dmg dimaqq@gmail.com - what is the download link you're using? I note that the dmg window screenshot has the title "Docker." It seems like you're not working with an original Chrome Mac DMG.

Re: Shrike / DMG source. I was surprised about the title too, perhaps an artefact of the build system? * I googled "Download Chrome Beta" * went to https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/beta.html and * clicked the big blue button * accepted the license * "GoogleChrome.dmg" started downloading I've repeated these steps today and got the same DMG: $ md5 GoogleChrome.dmg MD5 (GoogleChrome.dmg) = 5ca0cf69e18b64a14cd972cd5eb07650 $ shasum -a 512 GoogleChrome.dmg b655ca0da1046547d302a436a62f10ccc6e7ab5929404fbb4b3cc4deed3edeb4cddc2a95f20496c2b1da0139e513360ca55a49006548f821ffbc0efb31a4e3d7 GoogleChrome.dmg Weirdly when I mount the DMG today, the window title is correct, "Google Chrome". Also the Chrome icon is shown correctly. And it installs. What's happening is truly weird and seems like a high sierra preview bug: After all these installation attempts, I have 3 extra Volumes: $ ls -lt /Volumes/ total 0 drwxr-xr-x@ 9 dima staff 306 22 Sep 14:08 Google Chrome Canary drwxr-xr-x@ 9 dima staff 306 20 Sep 11:38 Google Chrome drwxr-xr-x@ 9 dima staff 306 20 Sep 11:38 Google Chrome 1 lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1 17 Sep 00:39 Macintosh HD -> / In here, open "Google Chrome" is broken, open "Google Chrome 1" doesn't "open" (instead "Google Chrome" is opened, perhaps volume name is hardcoded?), and open "Google Chrome Canary" works. I'm attaching a screenshot of both opened side by side

Also, installation works after reboot (same DMG file, same version of high sierra pre). Let's call it a transient bug and not our bug :)

This bug had an unsupported status. Updating to Untriaged so someone will reevaluate.
