"Control + `" keyboard events are being handled by chrome and stopped

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.91 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Our website uses "CTRL + `" to open our debug panel. 2. Open dev tools. 3. Press "CTRL + `". What is the expected behavior? Our debug panel opens. What went wrong? Chrome dev tools handles event to open "Console", but then the event doesn't propagate. I verified that this is the case when the dev tools are docked or in a separate window. This is a pretty recent regression because we've been doing this for a couple of years without incident. Did this work before? Yes Unsure, but it was a recent update (maybe 61+) that caused the regression. Chrome version: 61.0.3163.91 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version:

@martellaj -- Thanks for reporting this issue. Could you please provide the URL of your website or any sample site, where we can open debug panel by performing the keyboard action "CTRL + `". This would help us in further triaging the issue. Thanks in advance.

Well our site's dev console is private to our dev team. However, you can test by creating an empty HTML page with an event listener to catch that keyboard event. I noticed in my debugging that if I use "keyup", the event isn't received on my site. If I use "keydown", it works properly. So I have an acceptable solution to my problem, but this still seems like a bug.

Ctrl+` fires on keydown, which if it is not prevented will move focus to the DevTools window. This is working as intended. |
