Screen Sharing: drop downs are not visible

Reported by necon...@gmail.com, Sep 19 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.79 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. i share an application window with web RTC app (not entire screen).
2. Select any select -> option element, drop down is working fine but not visible on shared screen (but visible if the entire screen selected).

Pictures added with the result for each step.

What is the expected behavior?
The drop-down (select -> option)should be visible as it is in case of fine but not visible on shared screen (but visible if the entire screen selected.

What went wrong?
The drop-down (select -> option) is not visible on the shared screen.

Did this work before? N/A

Tested on Chrome Stable #61.0.3163.91, Canary #63.0.3220.0 on Windows 10, Mac 10.12.6, Ubuntu 14.04 and able to reproduce the issue. Screencast is attached for reference.

This is a non-regression issue and able to reproduce from M-50 #50.0.2624.0. Marking it as untriaged so that issue gets addressed.

As mentioned in the original comment, issue is observed only when specific screen/ application is shared. However, when entire screen is selected issue is not observed.

Thanks.

Brave, is this WAI?
Status: WontFix (was: Untriaged)
Yes, this is WAI.
Usually, the drop-down/pop-up content is in a independent window to the shared window. When window capture is done by printing out the target window content, most probably the drop-down/pop-up content can't be captured most probably. Capturing Chrome window is always this case.
When window capture is done by cropping target window from entire desktop, then the drop-down/pop-up content which is within the range of target windown can be captured though. But cropping only works when target window is at top-front.
