The MIME utilities should recognize font media types

The MIME utilities should recognize `font/*` media types as defined by https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8081 and registered at https://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/media-types.xml#font as well as their legacy counterparts (`application/font-*`).

Could you explain a bit of the motivation why (e.g. what Web visible features this can impact / should impact)?

What exactly is the purpose of the MIME utilities? It’s not clear to me which MIME types should be included and which shouldn’t. I guess this is the same question rsleevi was asking.
