Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.113 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open attached index.html in incognito mode 2. Check network panel 3. Check for pre-connect behavior in network panel What is the expected behavior? Since, <link href="https://fonts.gstatic.com" rel="preconnect" crossorigin> is used, I expect eager connection to be established to fonts.gstatic.com. But, according to devtools, that does not happen. See devtools.png But, if I use webpagetest.org, and inspect the network waterfall there, I can see pre-connect happening. See webpagetest.png Which i why I wrote, it "appears" as if pre-connect is not shown on devtools. What went wrong? pre-connect is not show in devtools timeline panel. While via webpagetest.org, it works. Did this work before? Yes Chrome version: 60.0.3112.113 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.12.6 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0

Tested the issue on 60.0.3112.113 using Ubuntu 14.04 and is not reproducible with below steps. 1.Opened incognito mode and navigated to given index.html file. 2.Opened network section in devtools and recorded network and when hovered on fonts.gstatic.com no <preconnect> option is seen. 3.Now navigated to webpagetest.org and gave https://fonts.gstatic.com near website url and started test. In waterfall model also no pre-connect option is seen. Attaching screenshots for reference. @Reporter: Could you please let us know whether we are missing any steps. NOTE: In Mac 10.12.6 we are unable to see fonts.gstatic.com in network panel after opening index.html in incognito profile Thanks!

Nope, if you followed the steps to repro mentioned in the original post, then you are good. But, if you do not see preconnect at all either, then that is also an issue. Preconnect should establish TCP connection to fonts.gstatic.com eagerly.

Able to reproduce on reported version 61.0.3163.91, latest canary 63.0.3220.0 and on latest stable 61.0.3163.100 using windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac 10.12.6 with the steps mentioned in original comment. This seems to be a Non-Regression issue seen from M-50[50.0.2624.0]. Hence, marking it as Untriaged
