White flashes after closing current tab and switching to fresh background tab

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.18 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to https://alpha.wallhaven.cc/
2. Open few wallpapers in background
3. Close current tab few times

What is the expected behavior?
No white flash after current tab is closed

What went wrong?
White flash is observed when current tab is closed

Did this work before? N/A 

Chrome version: 63.0.3216.0  Channel: canary
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
Flash Version: 26.0.0.143

Tested the issue on 60.0.3112.113, on latest stable 61.0.3163.91 and on latest canary 63.0.3218.0 using Windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04, Mac 10.12.1 and is reproducible with steps mentioned in comment#0. 

This issue is seen from M50 i.e; 50.0.2661.0. Hence marking as Untriaged.

Consistently reproducible with Chrome Canary 69.0.3474.0 on macOS 10.13.5 even without any plugins installed and even in incognito mode.
