Issue descriptionExample URL: Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to anywhere on the web 2. Try to download a file (image, zip, apk, etc.) 3. Nothing happens What is the expected behavior? The file should be downloading, instead either the loading bar progresses and nothing happens or just absolutely nothing happens. What went wrong? Files are not downloading. The download process does not even appear to start. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 60.0.3112.116 Channel: stable OS Version: 8.0.0 Flash Version: Downloading files in other versions of Chrome (Beta, Dev, Canary) and in Firefox work on my device for the same files. Just the stable version is having this issue. I have already tried clearing cache, app data, uninstalling updates, disabling/reenabling Chrome, and restarting the device. Even with updates uninstalled (returning to version 58), the issue persists. Saving webpages using the download button in the drop-down menu works, but does not work with any other kind of file.

Alright, well the first file I noticed this with was a picture from Google Images of a BMW i8 that I was trying to send in a message (original image here: https://o.aolcdn.com/images/dims3/GLOB/legacy_thumbnail/800x450/format/jpg/quality/85/http://o.aolcdn.com/hss/storage/midas/b5d9afa0cf977556ad3a527db114725d/204197032/bmw-i8.jpg). I have tried long-pressing the image and clicking "Download image" from the Google Image search results, doing the same from the original image at the link above, and also by clicking the download button in the drop-down menu from the original image. In all cases nothing at all happens.

Thank you! FWIW, I tested this on my personal phone and it worked for me after I was prompted to, and gave, Chrome permission to access local storage (Chrome version 61.0.3163.81, Nexus 5X, Android 7.1.2, Build N2G48C). I think probably the right next step is for the Android folks to look at it, which from c#4 I think is in progress.

I've tried messing with the permissions (Chrome had permission already when this started), to make that prompt appear. Even when it does and I grant Chrome permission to access/modify local storage it still behaves the same.

I tried doing that again (I've actually done it about 5 times in total so far), it still didn't change the behavior.

Sorry I forgot to come back and comment on this. After updating to version 61 (currently on 61.0.3163.98), the problem completely stopped. I'm not sure what was causing it, but the update to 61 seems to have completely fixed it. |
