Signin/sync loop - Chrome unusable |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome version: 61.0.3163.79 I came back from a 2 months paternity leave, rebooted my Goobuntu workstation, and chrome entered an endless sign-in/sync loop. - When I launch it, it shows the sign-in page - I enter credentials, touch the gnubby, and it shows the sync UI - I hit the "Ok, Got it" button, and it goes back to the signin page. The signin UI steals focus, so I can't even go into Settings to clear the cache. The browser is unusable. I tried deleting the cache in ~/.config/google-chrome, but I am running into the same issue after going through the welcome UI flow. It sync part of my data and even shows hangouts UI with conversations, but at some point kicks me back out to the signing page. Signing into the personal account works, it's only my corp account.

Okay, I deleted a bunch of extensions (several editing extensions, and maybe a couple of others), and that did the trick. Chrome could finally finish syncing, and I can use it now. It's worth noting - I don't think (although not 100% sure) any of those extensions were installed recently, I've had them for a while. I have a backup of my ~/.config/google-chrome-beta/ cache folder, if that can help diagnose the problem. Even though this could be an extensions issue, I think we should prevent Chrome from becoming completely unusable when an issue with an extension occurs.

Potential dupe/related issue: 766840 . Owen, this looks like a forced signin issue. Can you please take a look?

force signin policy is no longer supported in M61. Since I don't have a goobuntu to repo the issue, could you please goto chrome://policy page and paste the chrome policies value here.

Assign back to bsazonov as it's not related to Chrome policy.
