Screen clicks don't work on Sketchfab in cardboard mode

Project Member Reported by vsupruniuk@google.com, Sep 12 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version: 62.0.3202.19
OS: Android N
VRCore: 1.8.163477258

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Set default headset to cardboard
(2) go to https://sketchfab.com/sketchfab/collections/sketchfab-vr-showcase-mobile
(3) Open one of the VR scenes.
(4) Press "View in VR" button and place the device in the cardboard headset.
(5) Press the button on the top of the headset to "click" the screen.

What is the expected result?
It is possible to move inside the VR scene by pointing cursor to different locations and pressing Cardboard button.

What happens instead?
Clicks are ignored, nothing happens when the screen is clicked.

Does this work in Daydream mode?
Screen clicks on Sketchfab.com work in Daydream headset as expected.

The page was probably relying on the "Cardboard-compatible" click event that was removed in M62 ( issue 716571 ). Now the Cardboard click is only exposed through the Gamepad API, and the page is likely making assumptions about VR controllers or special-casing Cardboard. We need to write up guidance then reach out.

Hello, I'm Remy from sketchfab.
The described issue is on our side. We recently changed the VR browsing in the web site and the "View In VR" button still triggers the old version. Sending you to the VR browsing environment, with no browsing information. Note that you can't teleport anyway in this environment.

A valid test case could be to go to a model page and click on the "vr" icon in the bottom right corner in the viewer and see if you can teleport in the scene.

Update - this no longer repros on Chrome 64.0.3274.0. It also doesn't repro on the current M62 Chrome stable.
