Table with both rowspan/colspan gives cells wrong height after toggling 'display: none' on rows

Steps to reproduce the problem:
To reproduce, view the attached testcase or https://jsfiddle.net/734vdpoj/ and click "Toggle table rows" twice.

What is the expected behavior?
The table renders the same on initial page load as after clicking "Toggle table rows" twice.

What went wrong?
The second rendering is different.

This issue affects some pages on Wikimedia Commons (Wikipedia sister project), for example https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Creator:A._R._Pshchelko (click the table header twice to collapse and expand it).
