Chrome Version: 61
OS: Desktop
What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Go to https://reddit.com.
(2) Menu -> More tools -> Add to desktop.
(3) Keep "Open in window" checked.
(4) chrome://apps, open the Reddit app.
(5) Find an imgur or other external link on the page, and left-click it.
What happens?
Navigates to Imgur within the browser window. A read-only Omnibox appears so you know you're off-site, and the app window still has the Reddit icon, but that's it. Otherwise, I've kind of lost the context of being in the Reddit app.
What is the expected result?
Navigates to Imgur within the browser window, but it "feels" like you're still in the Reddit app and Imgur is nested within it, essentially like a Chrome Custom Tab on Android.
See screenshot.
Things we should have:
- The window's title bar still mentions Reddit somewhere. Perhaps: "$PAGE_TITLE - $APP_TITLE" (e.g., "I made an all-in-one remote for my TV setup - Album on Imgur - Reddit").
- The Omnibox should have a back button to perform a normal browser "back" navigation.
- The Omnibox should have a close button to "close" the nested browser experience and return to Reddit. Essentially this would navigate back to the last in-scope URL within this window's browser history.
