Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.113 Safari/537.36 Example URL: http://libcat.dartmouth.edu/record=b6649161~S1 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to URL 2. Look in the title field 3. Compare that title with the boxes in it to the title displayed in the chrome tab. In the tab, it shows the word "Amerikantsy." In the title field, it looks like this "Amerikant︠s︡y" What is the expected behavior? It should display the title correctly. What went wrong? I think it's showing the boxes because it's somehow failing to display the letters which are meant to be displayed with combining diacritics. Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 60.0.3112.113 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.12.6 Flash Version: Thanks for taking a look!

Able to reproduce this issue on Mac OS 10.12.6 using chrome latest stable 63.0.3212.0 by following steps mentioned in the original comment. Able to reproduce on older version of chrome M50[50.0.2661.66]. Considering to be a non-regression and marking it as untriaged. Note: Issue is not reproducible on Linux and Windows

[mac bug triage] The problem may be with the font being used on the page (it perhaps does not have the characters needed to display the text correctly).

Inspector shows it correctly as well. Document charset is UTF-8. So far as I can tell this is a font/text rendering issue, not an encoding issue.
