[Cast SDK] Cast button does not appear on www.cda.pl for Pixel phone

Project Member Reported by mfo...@chromium.org, Sep 7 2017

Issue description

Dale - is your team looking into remote playback issues at present?

Chrome Version: 61.0.3163.81
OS: Android 8.0 on Pixel

Original report from lugr@google.com follows:

----

TL;DR: Some websites (e.g. https://www.cda.pl/video/1549928a7) have embedded html5 player that supports chromecast. I cannot make it working on my pixel phone, while it works perfectly on Huawei and Samsung phones that my guest are using.

Yesterday I noticed that my guests were able to cast video with much better quality than I usually do. On my pixel phone I open the video in full screen, then share entire screen of my phone and play the video on my chromecast.

My guests were able to open the website (e.g. https://www.cda.pl/video/1549928a7) and play the video directly from it. The html5 player on that website has built in chromecast support. And they have additional chromecast button rendered directly on the video.

On my pixel phone I tried different approaches:
- search for video directly in search box
- open the website in Chrome browser
- open the website in Opera browser
without any luck.

I noticed that on my guest's phone Google Home was installed - I installed it as well, but it didn't help.

Any ideas?
We were connected to the same wifi using the same website. Casting from youtube etc. works without any problems so this is not the connectivity issue.

-dalecurtis as it doesn't appear remote playback specific.

Here's what I observe when trying to repro myself with Chrome 62.0.3199.4 on Pixel.

- The desktop (www.cda.pl) site does not show any Cast icon on its player.
- The mobile (m.cda.pl) does show a Cast icon and it's using the SDK, not native remote playback (the Cast app shows a cda.pl splash screen).
- Casting video from the mobile site seems to work fine for me.

This sounds like an issue with Cast device discovery on this device that is affecting Chrome specifically.

imcheng@ reports that the desktop site did work when he tried it. Does this still repro?

Comment 5 by lugr@google.com, Sep 13 2017

Yes the problem still occurs. What tests can I perform? Is there anything in the setup that might be incorrect (i.e. are there any applications or settings that has to be installed / turned on, in order for casting to work).

All my chromecast devices are in a sandboxed network. Is there anything specific to casting from chrome app, that does not apply to media casting from youtube etc.?

Note: casting from youtube, spotify and other apps works without issues.

Can you try m.youtube.com from Chrome and see if casting works from there? Is there any chance you can try this from another device?

Comment 7 by lugr@google.com, Sep 26 2017

The issue is that they exclude android o in the code:

 E.Bf = function() {
        return A(this.o, "Chrome") && A(this.ud.vendor, "Google Inc") && 0 == A(this.o, "OPR")
    }

Comment 8 by mfo...@chromium.org, Sep 26 2017

That's probably why it worked on my Pixel - it's on a different build branch (not OPR).

I wrote to cda.pl, asking about that issue, they fixed it on their side and now it works for Pixel on Android O as well.
