cros chrome-sdk errors out on latest checkout

While running "cros chrome-sdk --board=falco" on the latest checkout I get the following output:
14:34:44: ERROR: cros chrome-sdk failed before completing.
14:34:44: ERROR: u'version'

My collegue also managed to reproduce it on the latest checkout. The command works as expected on a checkout from Sunday.
