When pasting an URL with consecutive white spaces the spaces are replaced by just one of them.

This is intentional. Workaround: use %20 to escape spaces when you want to preserve multiple consecutive spaces. This behavior is especially useful when pasting multi-line input as a search query. The case where people want consecutive spaces preserved is pretty rare. |
