Issue descriptionChrome Version : 60.0.3112.113 OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Click "Set as default" in toolbar (see screenshot) 2. Close and reopen Chrome What is the expected result? Chrome is default browser. What happens instead of that? Prompt "Google Chrome isn't your default browser" reappears. URLs typed into the Start menu open in IE 9. This is on a freshly reimaged ThinkPad X1 with Windows 7. UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.113 Safari/537.36

Tested the issue on windows 7 Desktop & Lenovo Thinkpad x1 using M60 #60.0.3112.113 and M63 #63.0.3205.0 and issue is not reproduced with the steps below: 1. Launched chrome and clicked on "Set as default" on tool bar . 2. Closed and reopened chrome and chrome becomes the default browser and no prompt is seen Attached screencast for reference. Thanks!

Screenshot attached. Note: I also tried going into Control Panel > Default Programs, but Chrome doesn't appear in the list...

Hmm, I downloaded Chrome again and re-ran the installer and now the problem has resolved itself. Maybe the first installation didn't fully succeed? I also installed some Windows updates in the meantime which might have made a difference.
