Whenever I ask for a crash ID from end users, there's about a 50% chance (Maybe more) that they'll give the local ID instead of the ID on the server. See, for instance, issue 742496, where I even specifically said it wasn't the local ID I wanted).
Every additional round trip makes it less likely we'll get a response from users, and consumes developer time. Could we not display the local ID on about:crashes? I'm not even sure what it's useful for, unless you go spelunking in your Chrome profile directory yourself.
