Able to reproduce this issue as well, clicking "Open Presentation Options" will immediately remove the ID from the URL. Josafat@ can you please assist in triaging?
,

Can you include version information/device?
,
Sep 5 2017
The version of Chrome Sign Builder is 1.0.4, the issue appears to be independent of Chrome version or device.

This is happening to us too. A workaround is go to the Google Slide -> file -> publish to the web -> set auto-advance slides -> click "start slideshow as soon as the player loads" and "restart the slideshow after the last slide" -> publish -> copy link -> chrome sign builder -> do not click "open presentation options" --> click "save forever" --> save as usual.

Any update on this technical report?
,
Sep 22 2017
Yes, during my testing using my Chromebook instead of my Windows 10 desktop, I discovered by using the Android APP the issue odes not appear. So I retested using Chrome and publishing with Slides from the Chrome browser from Chrome OS and the problem reappeared....(as opposed to publishing from the Slides Android APP)

Problem is were have no android devices. I also set up a schedule to play default show and then on a schedule for the week to play different presentations daily. I was not at work yesterday but left it playing. When I came in today the default show should have been playing but instead it was playing my youtube playlist. at no time id I have youtube be the last thing playing in a day before it would switch to default. I am finding using the default is making this brutally unreliable regarding scheduled content. One thing I should make clear is that if I open the scheduler it shows the right content playing. But the actual chromebox is showing the wrong content until I reboot it.

"Google Slide -> file -> publish to the web -> set auto-advance slides -> click "start slideshow as soon as the player loads" and "restart the slideshow after the last slide" -> publish -> copy link -> chrome sign builder -> do not click "open presentation options" --> click "save forever" --> save as usual." This literally saved my hide given I needed to have these devices running a presentation for back to school nights in my district this week. Please keep me updated on when a fix has been implemented because this was very time-consuming and frustrating to figure out especially since I had it working in June last year. Thanks!

Same Problem here. Except everytime I tab away from the field, it removes the ID.

Same thing happens here and has been happening ever since we started using Chrome Sign Builder. This software is buggy. Yes, all software has bugs, but you expect that a company the size of Google will resolve issues quickly. I would recommend that customers considering using Chrome sign builder think twice about doing so until Google decides to devote resources to the product.

this is STILL an issue June 5th 2018, even only using the published URL directly from Google Slides.
,

I second that. Do we have any updates on this? It's been ages...

I have given up on this. I no longer will do scheduled content and when I put in my presentation url...I don't open the box that comes up. That way my stuff doesn't get toasted. I also modify my screen presentation url... the end of it looks like true&rm=minimal&delayms=10000

Agreed. Very frustrating. Would love to see them update this product
,

For the record I don't schedule content to play either as I find it very unreliable..might work for a bit and then on occasion fail. If it is not reliable - I skip it

When Google will update or give any feedback about this?

This sounds like an issue with Chrome Sign Builder itself rather than Chrome or Chrome OS. pastarmovj@ do you know who could look into it?

Hi guys, maybe you are able to help me how to figure this out: I'm trying to show presentation file using Chrome Sign Builder for 5 Asus Chromebits (with kiosk licenses) and can't seem to get it to work even remotely reliably. This guy here seems to have it working nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MWec-DVB44 I am uploading the configuration (.text) file in Device management -> App Management -> Chrome Sign Builder -> Kiosk settings And also referring to the same link in Chrome Sign Builder (with true&rm=minimal&delayms=10000 at the end, doublechecking that scheduled url actually works) It shows up nicely in my desktop's Chrome Sign Builder application, but loads successfully 1 times of 20 in Chromebit. Other times I get a "No content scheduled" error. Having restarted and reconfigured Chromebit multiple times, but always end up at a same place. Any directions or help would be highly appreciated.

Are you using schedules? If yes don't set the event to all day and see if that works. Have you tried a chromebox in the same Ou to see if the results are different.

Ive been around and around with Google support on an issue similar to this. While mine do not show "no content scheduled, they do not always switch to the current scheduled URL. This typically happens over the weekend for some reason. I have 8 different screens around our school, and they run 2 different slideshows. One during the week and one during the weekend. Unfortunately, we havent been able to find a pattern as the chrome sign builder works about 95% of the time and the problem is very random. I would make sure that you have the following URLS white listed as well to make sure there is not connection errors. https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6334001

Just so people know I have tested off site as well on a home network where nothing is filtered and find the same unreliability in scheduling content.

@mattias@mist.ee I suggest to file a support ticket to receive assistance regarding the issue you are experiencing.
,
Jun 26 2018
I have noticed that Chrome Sign Builder is sensitive about docs "published" URLs as opposed to "share to any one with the link" URLs. I have found that latter seem to display without issues while the former gives various errors even for resources that are otherwise publicly accessible. Also sometimes it seems that sign builder will prefer "0 and 1" for some "true or false" URL variables related to resource loops.
,
Jun 26 2018
This may be the problem! I just looked at mine and the 2 times that I experienced the most trouble were the 2 times that I was using the share link instead of the "publish to web" link. I will let you guys know if that fixes it for me. Thanks!
,
Jun 26 2018
You have to use the publish link - the shared link is only for editing

Thanks for all the feedback, seems like there are many ppl using Chrome Sign Builder. @rick.hum...@wolfcreek.ab.ca suggested to try the following sequence: Make change in Sign Builder, -> Export Save that txt file -> let it open the Admin page select the Device OU -> click the X to delete the current Configure UPLOAD CONFIGURATION FILE -> select the new txt file -> SAVE Before I was doing it another way around: making the change directly into saved .text file on my computer Uploading it to OU afterwards changing the url inside Chrome Sign Builder. Seems to work more reliably now, will you know if I run into any other issues. Thanks again!

Requiring Public access for documents to be used with Chrome Sign Builder is WAI for now (https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6180529?hl=en). This appears to be a FR and will be changing it as such. For the support case that is currently open I will work to look into alternative options until Eng is able to properly prioritize this request.
,

Just to make sure I'm understanding the on-going issue: For those that are commenting on this case are customers still having issues with continuous display if they share the link publicly/Publish to Web?

I think we are off-track from the original complaint. When in the 'add new content' dialog within a schedule, if you paste the URL into the URL field or change any text in the URL field, an "Open Presentation Options" option shows up. If I click on that option, then click 'Done' on the next diaglog, the original URL to the sheet that I pasted is no longer there. I have just learned to paste the URL and the options: ?start=true&loop=true&rm=minimal&delayms=9000 and NEVER touch the "Open Presentation Options" button.
,

@sylcat No, here's an example: User publishes a Google Slides presentation and copies the link. User sets up a new schedule and pastes the link in there. Once pasted, an "Open Presentations Options" button appears. If you click on this and make NO changes or make them the same as the presentation link, the link loses its options and breaks. This should not change just from clicking and button and not making any changes. Thanks

Link breaking has been like this so it seems forever. Then scheduling well that is another story or issue I should say. I have found that really unreliable as well. Google Chrome signage s like the forgotten product

For those that have moved on from the basic (broken) service provided by Google for digital signage, did you move on to another product completely? or did you subscribe to a service like novisign or skykit or something similar?

@44. We got Chrome Sign Builder up and running with minimal issues. I do wish there was more development attention to it though as it's severely lacking. We can't really do anything else other than put up a website or a slides presentation with just slides and no videos. If we have a video that runs for, let's say, one minute, the slide change will cut it off long before it finishes. I can't find anything online as to how to get this to work or anything. Outside of that, it works fairly well.

Off topic you can make videos play. It has to be a free video no adds. More reliable using your own from your own youtube channel. Play longer than slide transition time by adding an image and add 5 second transitions to that area. I use a back ground color small square that way it does not show while fading in and out. 20 of those = 10x5= 50 secs plus the transition (15 sec) time to next slide (rough estimate) So if I had a 3 minute slide I can duplicate slide and change start and end time on the video. Then I move that up further in the slide deck. Rinse and repeat as needed. This was working great for me so who knows if things have changed
