Able to reproduce the issue on Windows-10, Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac OS 10.12.6 using chrome latest stable #60.0.3112.113 by following steps mentioned in the original comment. Observed "Update ext" hits 1 out of 1 even after disabling 'Developer mode'.

Tested the same on older version of chrome #50.0.2624.0 and observing different behavior. After step-6 from original comment no hits found even after enabling the developer mode, it displays 0 out of 0. Considering the above issue as non-regression and marking it as untriaged.

Thanks!
@brajkumar, the reason you are seeing different behavior in Chrome 50 is due to Issue 2220 , which has been fixed only recently. To reproduce this issue in an older version of Chrome, you could try this shorter sequence of steps - this might help you bisect:

1. Go to chrome://extensions/
2. Enable "Developer mode"
3. Ctrl-F, "Update ext", Enter
4. Check that 1 of 1 hits found
5. Disable "Developer mode"
6. Press F3
