Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.113 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to chrome://extensions/ 2. Disable developer mode, if enabled 3. Ctrl-F, "Update ext", Enter 4. Check that 0 of 0 hits found 5. Enable "Developer mode" 6. Press F3 7. Check that 1 of 1 hits found 8. Disable "Developer mode" 9. Press F3 What is the expected behavior? 0 of 0 hits found What went wrong? Still 1 of 1 hits found, although page is in the same visual state as after step 2 Did this work before? No Chrome version: 60.0.3112.113 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 26.0 r0 Similar repro steps: 1. Go to http://www.nss-mic.org/2015/program/ListProgramDB.asp?session=N1D2 2. (Relax) 3. Ctrl-F, "reconstruction", Enter 4. Check that 0 of 0 hits found 5. Click "Show All Abstracts" 6. Press F3 7. Check that 1 of 1 hits found 8. Click "Hide All Abstracts" 9. Press F3 Expected: 0 of 0 hits Actual: 1 of 1 hits, although no hits visible Related to issue 2220

@brajkumar, the reason you are seeing different behavior in Chrome 50 is due to Issue 2220 , which has been fixed only recently. To reproduce this issue in an older version of Chrome, you could try this shorter sequence of steps - this might help you bisect: 1. Go to chrome://extensions/ 2. Enable "Developer mode" 3. Ctrl-F, "Update ext", Enter 4. Check that 1 of 1 hits found 5. Disable "Developer mode" 6. Press F3
