alert popup from extension pops up partially off screen

Reported by profi...@gmail.com, Aug 23 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.78 Safari/537.36 OPR/47.0.2631.55

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. install extension that has alert popups (for example https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jacks-mousehunt-helper/ghfmjkamilolkalibpmokjigalmncfek)
2. make that extension do an alert style popup (in jacks extension click on the icon and first link)

What is the expected behavior?
an alert popup is expected to appear somewhere on the screen fully visible.

What went wrong?
the alert popup is partially off screen/invisible:

Tested this issue on Windows-10 using chrome latest stable #60.0.3112.101 by followings steps mentioned in the original comment.

After installing the extension, clicked on the cat icon from top bar and clicked on 'You record hunt history' in the menu item observed a pop up dialog displayed saying 'Jacks's MouseHunter Helper'.

Reporter@ Could you please confirm is this is the issue you are talking about? Able to see the pop up box little right towards the menu items, but able to drag towards left to see the complete content. Attaching screen shot for reference, could you please take a look in to it and let me know if anything missing from my end.

Thanks!

You are correct. On your screenshot you already dragged the popup to the left. Initially it appears off screen.

Tested this issue on Chrome Stable #60.0.3112.113, dev #62.0.3200.0 on Windows 7 and able to reproduce the issue.

This is a non-regression issue seen from M-40 #40.0.2172.0. Marking it as untriaged so that issue gets addressed.

Attached the screenshot for reference.

Thanks!!

The extension referenced in the original report got updated, but the issue still exists. Please try a different addon with a javascript alert() from popup.js to replicate it.
