I cannot reproduce this. I just tried the steps: created the file, used open file to open the file, opened a new tab, and typed "local file example" in the omnibox, and saw the file:/// suggestion for the file I created. Can you provide more details on what's necessary to reproduce this issue?

That's strange, I can't reproduce this now after revisiting the local pages. Try opening an Incognito window and typing the title, that was where I noticed the issue initially. One other thing: the cases where the suggestion did not show up were on history items from a few days / weeks back. So maybe try this a few days or a week from now and see if the suggestions still show up. Thanks,

Thanks for rechecking. I'm going to close this issue as unable to reproduce. It's possible the file was not visited recently. The omnibox cannot afford to keep all the pages you've ever visited in its database--it wouldn't be responsive enough. Instead, it keeps all pages visited in the last three days, all pages visited at least three times in the last ninety days, and all pages every gotten to by typing / selecting something in the omnibox. Your example might've befallen one of these situations. We're thinking about changing these thresholds (see bug 692386). |
