OS: R62, but lower priority so could be pushed back much longer.
This is a sibling but of chromium:692103, but more severe.
Using signal strength as the sole criterion for picking a wifi network
is causing issues with my Chromebook that my Android phone doesnt have.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Get an AP that appears to advertise an SSID but wont hand out an IP
when you connect to it, or blocks Internet access for some reason.
Currently, panda-5G at kirtika@'s desk meets this criteria.
(2) Connect to it.
What is the expected result?
A good user experience would be:
(1) UI tells you that the network you connected to doesnt have internet access, a la Android (wifi icon with X mark). This is
(2) UI asks you if you want to stay connected, and if you hit no,
it deprioritizes this network and connects to a different network like GoogleGuest instead (a la Android) on subsequent resumes.
What happens instead?
Chromebook only looks at signal strength, and since misbehaving AP is the closest one, disconnects every so often from a known good network
like GoogleGuest to connect to it. There is no UI notification that there is no internet access / no IP handed out.
