Multiple “top” Console Contexts on Angular Pages

Reported by skinner...@gmail.com, Aug 17 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.101 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Load an Angular 1.x application (https://docs.angularjs.org/api)
2. Open the console and check the contexts dropdown, there will be only 1 "top" as expected.
3. Refresh the page
4. There are now two "top" contexts
5. Refresh the page
6. There are now three "top" contexts

Repeat steps 3 & 4 and the number of "top" contexts will increase.

What is the expected behavior?
There should only be one "top" context.

This does not happen on pages that do not run Angular, however not all Angular applications are affected.

What went wrong?
There are multiple "top" contexts. Only the top most context can be interacted with.

Did this work before? Yes 59

Chrome version: 60.0.3112.101 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.6
Flash Version:

I forgot to mention, closing devtools and opening it again will remove these bad "top" contexts.

Thanks for the report, looks like something is wrong with DevTools not clearing old contexts. einbinder@, have you seen something like this before?
Can confirm existence of this issue on Windows 10, 60.0.3112.90 (Official Build) (64-bit)

The linked Angular site uses sourcemaps, and these symptoms look the same as crbug.com/750103

Could someone who can repro this bug try to repro after disabling Sourcemaps in DevTools?
https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/javascript/source-maps#source_maps_in_devtools_sources_panel

If turning off sourcemaps fixes the issue, we can merge this as a duplicate.

skinner927@ Thanks for the issue.

Unable to reproduce the issue on Windows 7,10 and Mac OS 10.12.6 using latest Stable 60.0.3112.101 and canary 62.0.3192.0 with the below steps

1. Launched Chrome and clicked on the above link.
2. Opened Devtools -> Console. Clicked on the dropdown and only one 'top' is populated.
3. Refreshed the page and could observe only one 'top' in the drop down list.

Please find the attached screen cast and confirm if anything is missed here.
Request you please retry the issue on new profile and update the thread if the issue still exists.

Thanks..

Turning off source maps has fixed the issue so this is likely a dupe of crbug.com/750103 .

Thank you for looking into this.
