[Feedback Prestable] Chrome tab strip does not appear on M60

Chrome Version: 60.0.3112.90
OS: Windows NT: 10.0.15063

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Update and Launch Chrome
(2)
(3)

What is the expected result?
Tab strip should be visible

What happens instead?
Please see attached screenshots.

Some other symptoms
1. Right clicking some parts of the area where tabs should appear brings up a context menu with new tab, reload, duplicate, pin tab, mute tab, close tab and reopen closed window enabled. 
2. Right clicking other parts of that area brings up a context menu with new tab, reopen closed window, and task manager (in addition to move/size/min/max/close 
3. I CAN open links in new windows.

I think this is related to VMware, got a few more user comments:

"After installing Win10 Pro 64bit (15063.0 version) on VMware Chrome tabs look good when you install Chrome I do not see tabs at the top of Chrome when I install VMware tools"

"The tabs and the top are not visible. Operating system used: Windows 10 Professional 64Bit on VMWARE"

"Windows 10 inside a VM.  Chrome was running fine.  Win10 update 1703 and now the tabs are invisible.  If I hover over where the tab should be I get the tool tip with the tab details - so clearly the tab is still there."

This is likely a compositing/gpu issue.
