Chrome hanging at launch until reboot (Moto G4)

Project Member Reported by brianosman@chromium.org, Aug 15 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version: 59.0.3071.125
OS: Android 7.0.0 (Moto G Build NPJS25.93-14-4)

Issue occurs on my personal (non-corp) device, started within the last month. After using the phone for about a day, Chrome will no longer launch correctly - any attempt will produce a blank white screen with some of the UI, but no content. The most common scenario is that I click on a Google Now card, and get a white screen with just the 'X', Share Icon, and three dots. The share icon works, nothing else is responsive. I've left the phone in this state for a long time, it never crashes, and never proceeds to load the page. I've watched adb logs, and don't see anything suspicious (but I'm not sure exactly what to look for).

Closing other apps will often make it continue to work for a brief period. Rebooting the phone typically restores functionality for about a day, and then it fails again. I have very few apps installed. Symptoms first started about two weeks after Chrome updated to M59.

Is this a dupe? Is there a known issue? Can I provide any information from my device to narrow this down? Thanks.

I ran into this as well. Have you tried going to the menu and choosing Open in Chrome? That fixes it for me. This is a custom tab issue.
At some point this stopped happening for me -- unfortunately, I don't really remember when. Can probably close this.
