[A11y Assessment - Lockscreen] Issues with ChromeVox |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionOS: Chrome Version: 61.0.3163.38 1. Enable ChromeVox Ctrl Alt Z 2. Press Search + Right to navigate around the UI ISSUES 1. Notice that when you navigate to the password field, you hear "password for" and then the account. However, it does not say that this is an edit field. Also, if I try to type, nothing happens here. I'm not able to get my focus into this field using ChromeVox navigation (Search + Right), OR through pressing Tab. This needs to be fixed. 2. If I do type something into the password field (if I click on it with the mouse, since keyboard is broken right now), then the dot appears. However, when I use ChromeVox to navigate back to review it, it just says "password for " and the account again.. not "dot". It should read out "dot" for as many dots as there are in the field. 3. I'm noticing some inconsistencies with the more options menu for the main account. When I press tab to focus it and then press enter to open it, I can use the down arrow to explore and press Esc to close. But if I get there using ChromeVox (Search + Right), then press Search + Space to open this, I often can't press Esc to close this. Somehow, the behavior is different when using Tab and arrows vs. using ChromeVox navigation, and it's leading to a strange experience where you can't close the menu with the keyboard, when using cvox nav. 4. I can press Search + Right to get to everything on the screen EXCEPT for the status tray area (including the notification center, keyboard options, and status tray). I should be able to get to the Status Tray area this way, using ChromeVox navigation. This should just be part of the linear order. Note that if I press Tab, I can get to those items in the Status Tray. We need ChromeVox navigation to match the Tab order here and not skip this whole area. @Zach, can you help to triage, please?

1. Not being able to type should be already fixed but haven't been landed in the latest M61 Canary though (The Canary hasn't been updated for several days). 2. The password field used to be focused three times (crbug.com/746568). The extra two focus actually say 'editable field' and 'dots', but they have been removed. I'm figuring out how to make it focus only once but also say all the necessary information. 3. I'm not able to repo this one though. For me Esc can always close the more options menu. 4. Can we find someone more familiar with status area to fix this part? It seems the status area cannot be focused using ChromeVox for a long time.

Thanks! Friendly ping on the remaining work here. @Tom, can you recommend anyone to look at the Status Tray navigation issue (I believe you and I have talked about this before)?

Friendly ping - any updates here?

The lock screen is using an entirely different implementation (views) so I believe this issue can be marked as WontFix. |
