Inline installation stop working

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.90 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Verify official domain for extension
2. Check inline install and unlisted visibility option
3. Publish extension

What is the expected behavior?
The inline installation should work on verified domain.

What went wrong?
The inline install worked firs couple of weeks after publishing extension and stop working with no reason, developer warnings or errors. Inline install throw error: "Inline installation is not supported for this item. The user will be redirected to the Chrome Web Store."

Chrome version: 60.0.3112.90  Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 26.0 r0

This is stable feature? Can we use it on production?
 
Same issue, but I noticed few more details:

1. If you go to the associated domain and try to install the extension from the page with 'chrome.window.install()' - it redirects you to the store with the parameter 'inline-inslalle-disabled'.
2. Than if you click on the link 'offered by the domain' and go to the landing page again - inline works properly.
3. Anothing thing is if you go to the landing page directly and wait ~5mins and thant try to install - inline works.

I believe it's a bug for a new extensions only.
I also didn't receive any notice that inline is disabled, so I believe it's bug, all the more so point 2 of the usercase exists.
I am seeing same issue as above where periodically I can install my extension from the Landing page but some some times it gets redirected to Chrome Web Store with 'inline-installe-disabled' page. 

Any feed back on this will be much appreciated.

Tested this issue on Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.12.6 with latest stable 60.0.3112.101 and Canary 62.0.3192.0.

Tried to inline install gmail extension and could install and launch it successfully.

Could you please provide us sample extension where you are seeing this issue?

It works now... But this feature is not stable, the inline install constantly stop working and back to work again with no any changes made to extension or installation page. Last time it happens when i reported this bug (Aug 14), and feature not worked continuously until now.

1.Are you extension settings "This item uses inline install." is checked?
2.Are your "Verify that this is an official item for a website you own" dropdown on http://music.blpmovies.com? Is verified?
If 1 and 2 is true, so you have same issue and chromium need to test it now, before it returns to work again.

Is it must to set "This article uses inline install."? 
I didn't set "This article uses inline install." before, the inline install works well. But it doesn't work since Aug.

Tested the issue on Windows 7, 10 and Mac OS 10.12.6 with latest stable 60.0.3112.101 and Canary 62.0.3184.0 with the below steps.

1. Launched Chrome and opened the above given link for installing 
2. Could add the extension to chrome.

Note: Once the extension is added to chrome, I'm not able to launch the extension by clicking on the extension bubble.

Please find the attached screen cast and confirm if anything is missed here.

Request Extensions team to look into this issue and help in further triaging.

This extension is not have UI menu and don't work stand alone.
The purpose of this extension is To ask for permissions to share screen ("chrome.desktopCapture.chooseDesktopMedia")
The extension will work with our recorder (javascript API).
But how does this relate to inline install?

How can I make inline install work?
The "This item uses inline install." was selected when I published the extension and I verified the domain as my own site.But when I install the extension via my link, it still redirects to the store with the parameter 'inline-inslalle-disabled'.
But sometimes "inline install" works properly.I can't find the regular pattern.
Hope to fix the bug early.

 hdodda@chromium.org hi. I'm using Version 60.0.3112.113 (Official Build) (64-bit) now. The inline install works fine, i can't reproduce it now. But, as i sad, this feature is not stable and i guess, in future it will stop working again. When it stop working again i will send you video screen.
Was there any resolution to this? I am still getting seeing issues with my extension where same Landing page (and other environment variables being constant) - The Inline works some time and sometimes it does not. The issue is mainly impacting my new CRXs that were recently published. 
Do you have a screencast or live example that we can use to see the steps to reproduce? Ideally, one with it working and one not working.

It seems that if you disable the option "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites" everything works just fine.

This may mean that Google has flagged your website as malicious.
radaradi...@gmail.com - you are right... Inline install started working when i disabled "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites" in my chrome browser.
I am able to see replicate it with  "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites" 
 ON . I will look further to see why my site is listed in this category as there is no information on the webmaster console tools. 

We are also seeing intermittent issues with inline installations, which manifest as a request from a unverified OR “fake” inline disablement (Error message: “Inline installation is not supported for this item.”).  Started about a week ago for us, on August 24th.  As reported by others, this is affecting mainly our newer extensions.  However, one of those extensions has been live since May 2017.  We tried swapping extensions and even publishing new landing pages.  Nothing seems to produce consistent results.

This is revenue impacting for us and it needs to be resolved quickly.  Potential customers are being redirected to the Chrome store, which results in lower overall install counts and a higher CAC.

So my page marked as safe again? ))
Is there any over projection of this issue? Maybe another services also stop working in period of time when page marked as unsafe?

And general question why page marked as unsafe with no reasons and when marked as safe again with no changes of this page.

I think the bug here is much more when just inline install issue...

Re-tried this issue again on the latest Canary 63.0.3205.0 and latest Stable 60.0.3112.113 on Windows-10 and Mac OS and unable to reproduce the issue. Can install the extension without any issues. 

Note: Unable to launch the extension from the extension bubble after it is installed.
This is seen from M-48 chrome builds. Hence marking this as Non-Regression issue and removing the 'Needs-Bisect' label.

susanjuniab@chromium.org can you check logs? You have exact time when bug was reproducable. See comment 32. I posted this comment when inline install stopped working again.
