I'm so far unable to reproduce this. After pinning each program to the taskbar, I see a distinct shortcut for each in:

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

As I unpin, I see the correct shortcuts being deleted from in there. I'm left with "Google Chrome Beta" or "Google Chrome Dev" with the correct icon.

In your case, could you check that the shortcut is pointing to the correct target (e.g., "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome Beta\Application\chrome.exe") and that the only problem is the icon?

To be sure: only the icon changes?

Thanks.
