Summary: Removing opacity makes elements disappear (was: Element disappears after removing class)
I suspect this has to do with layout and not with CSS or paint, because when the element disappears, you cannot interact with it, not even select the text with the mouse (no I pointer and selection does nothing). Adding all of the possibilities just in case, though.

Used to work in Chrome 59, fails in Chrome 60, works again in Chrome 61.
