Extension displays "This extension may have been corrupted" when opening devtools

Reported by maurice....@gmail.com, Aug 10 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.90 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install the Zero Dark Matrix extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/devtools-theme-zero-dark/bomhdjeadceaggdgfoefmpeafkjhegbo
2. Open the Extensions tab and observe the state of the extension
3. Open Devtools
4. Observe the "This extension may have been corrupted" message that appears under the extension name header

What is the expected behavior?
The error & error message should not appear.

What went wrong?
I'm not sure what's triggering this error to come up. I loaded the current state of the extension on m59 (previous stable), m61(Canary) and m62(Chromium) and cannot reproduce this behavior.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 60.0.3112.90 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.6
Flash Version:

One of the files in the extension is 204800 bytes long which is 4096 * 50 so this bug report is a duplicate of issue 720597 .
The extension author can circumvent this not-yet-fixed bug by simply adding a space/comment in that file.

...in the comment above I mean the bug is not fixed in Chrome 60: the fix landed in 61.0.3124.0
Whoa - thanks for the tip! Definitely would have never found that out on my own.
