Lack of Android support in tools/bisect-builds.py |
|||||||
Issue descriptionBisect tool is very helpful to catch culprit of regression, especially for developers outside Google who don't have enough resource to maintain so many revision builds, or for devices that can't be widely reached to repro the issue. tools/bisect-builds.py is such a handy tool (https://www.chromium.org/developers/bisect-builds-py). However, currently this tool only supports Windows, Linux, MacOS and ChromeOS, while Android is an absence. May I ask for the support of Android in this tool? Thanks!

We tried to do this at one point but wound up with some ... unintended consequences. That predated the existence of ChromePublic.apk, though, so we could/should probably revisit this using those.

Thanks John. Do you think you or someone on your team might be able to do this in the next few days? Or should I take a crack at it?

I don't think we'll get to it in the next few days given its current priority. If you'd like to take a shot at it in the meantime, you're more than welcome to do so.

If anyone familiar with that script wants to take this, go ahead. In the mean time, marking as available in our queue.
