Regression: Unwanted white patch is seen in new app launcher on hitting escape while searching apps.

Issue description

Chrome Version: 62.0.3176.0/9823.0.0 dev-channel Daisy,Candy and Minnie
OS: Chrome OS

Pre-condition: Enable App Launcher sync in chrome://flags

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1)Sign in to chrome or Browse as guest >> Open App launcher
(2)Start searching apps from search field >> Now hit escape and Observe

Expected: No such unwanted white patch should be seen in new app launcher on hitting escape while searching apps.
Actual: Instead, unwanted white patch is seen.

This is regression issue as no such unwanted white patch is seen in 61.0.3163.38/9765.21.0 dev channel Daisy.
