I'm having issues finding something to exactly reproduce what I'm seeing, but I've noticed that the search feature and the expansion feature interact in slightly weird ways. It appears to me that if you search, then clear the search, alerts get expanded.

The search also causes fairly visible jank on the page, which is annoying. Not sure if anything can be done about that, short of transitioning SOM to use iron-list, which is rather tricky.
