Asus Chromebook Flip C213 recovery image missing from recovery tool

Project Member Reported by hernandezma@chromium.org, Jul 28 2017

Issue description

Hardware ID: REEF E25-C3A-S26-X5F-B8Q-A9L

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open the 'Chromebook Recovery Utility' App.
(2) Look for the Asus Chromebook Flip C213 image, either from the dropdown list, or manually typing the hardware ID.
(3) Image is not found.

What is the expected result?
Recovery image should be available for the given model.

What happens instead?
Image is not there.

Additionally, this Chromebook model seems to not report the model to the Admin Console if enrolled. We'll gather more data to validate this.

I can not validate this yet, but it seems like some users are reporting that these devices are entering into a boot loop upon Chrome OS booting process. There's no data yet to determine if those are related to OS updates, but if it is, we may need to deliver an old OS version in the recovery tool for them to recover.

I'm gonna update this thread when I get additional details.

I encountered this bootloop issue yesterday with the ASUS C213SA-YS02.

I have been using this with one user for about a week. Yesterday a second user signed in. When they were finished they they signed out and removed their name from the saved users. The next time I opened the lid it loaded the Chrome animation, and after a few seconds the screen went black and loaded the animation again but just hung there.

like the OP I was discouraged to see the image missing from the recovery tool. However, Using Esc+Refresh+Power, Ctrl+D, Enter to disable OS verification, Space to re-enable, Enter to reboot i was able to get the initial welcome screen back.

This unit is running stable version 59.0.3071.91, and my HWID is REEFF2B-C4Q-N6N-55G-K8H-A70.

I haven't enrolled this device in our Admin Console yet, so I can't speak to that portion of the post.

josafat@ - could you please help to triage this issue?
Hi team! Is there any chance you could get this prioritized, we are receiving multiple requests for this model recovery image.

Take in consideration that most of the requests come from educational institutions with hundreds of devices already purchased and delivered.

Thanks!

Recovery images are now uploaded for these devices

Thanks for providing the recovery image!

To provide an update, I enrolled over 250 of these yesterday, and none of them reported the model number in the Admin console; that field is still blank like the OP mentioned.
