Extracting files from large .zip files stalls after mount

Project Member Reported by weifangsun@chromium.org, Jul 25 2017

Issue description

Users with large .zip files (~200MB, 2.2 GB) were able to open and mount the .zip file. However, on trying to copy the files/extract the files to the Downloads folder, the operation stalls with the error "An operation is taking longer than expected. Do you want to abort it?" message.

Thank you, weifangsun@.

To be clear, there was a message in the bottom-left corner of Files stating something to the effect of "Copying 83 files" with a meter that got started but never moved. I let it run overnight. I don't recall the "...abort it?" message in my case, though I've seen that before with zip files.

I ran into this problem myself. Downloaded a whole bunch of photos from Google Photos as a zip file and I'm unable to copy anything out of the archive that has been downloaded. The Files app just hangs there saying "Copying 401 items" and clicking on the X to cancel it doesn't even do anything.

We've recently made a fix which I believe should fix this issue.

Thanks. In which release should we expect to see it?

I pushed the fix to everyone this morning (via Chrome Web Store).
