[A11y Assessment - Launcher] Issues with Chromevox / keyboard navigation in the launcher |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionOS: Chrome Tested on Canary (61) but experienced in previous versions When using ChromeVox navigation to get through the launcher, the navigation is totally messy. Press Search+Right to attempt to navigate linearly (item by item). However, you can only get to the search bar and the mic icon, and that's it. If I try to press Search + Right to go to the first set of apps below, I can't get there. However, I can use the arrow keys alone to get there, but that's really not intuitive to someone non-sighted who is used to using screen reader navigation. If I do get my focus into that area of apps by pressing one of the arrow keys or pressing tab, then if I press Search + Right to go through the apps on that first screen, I can actually get to all the apps in the launcher that don't visually appear there, which is super super confusing. I should ONLY be able to get to the apps that are visually on the screen, not the ones that are on the next set of pages in the launcher. Also, when you navigate to "all apps". you can't use Search+Right ChromeVox navigation to get back up to the search of type URL text box, or to the back button or mic icon I do hear "button" "button" which might be those buttons, but they are unlabeled and there is also no visual focus indication so I have no idea what they are for.

(lpalmaro@ and I met today and we went over the fixes). - Invisible items no longer are focusable. - Search+right no longer goes off screen. The remaining issues from this bug: - Search + right traversing to/from searchbox and back. Search + right still gets stuck in the searchbox, the user must hit tab to go to the search results. The fix for this is under review. The remaining issue is being tracked here: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=761124
