Able to reproduce the issue on the latest canary(62.0.3165.0) on Windows-10, Mac OS 10.12.5 and Linux Ubuntu 14.04. Regressed in M-51. This is intentional behavior. We disable white-space collapsing in plain text editing. If white-space collapsing is enabled, typing a space sometimes won't produce visible space character. It's very confusing.

@tkent: It might be confusing to the user to have this behavior, but it is confusing to the developer to have behavior which differs from the standard. Perhaps one could at least have this only if the focus of the user is on the text field? |
