if a page requires http authentication, after authentication new text cannot be added to the html textarea that has pre-populated text

Issue descriptionExample URL: http://lubble.herokuapp.com Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. visit http://lubble.herokuapp.com 2. login with username and password as username and password respectively 3. attempt to append text to the textarea What is the expected behavior? user should be able to append text inside the textarea What went wrong? on android versions <7.0 and chrome version > 52.x.x.x* user cannot append text inside the textarea. However, once the user clicks on the url bar (or anything that puts an overlay, be it even switch apps and back) and clicks back on the page the user can append text inside the textarea Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? Yes 52.x.x.x Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: >52.x.x.x Channel: n/a OS Version: <7.0 Flash Version: 52.x.x.x was the last tested working version before the chrome was updated 59.0.3071.125. Issue is there even on Chrome Beta 60.0.3112.66 Works on android 7.0 irrespective of the chrome version.

I can repro on 60.0.3112.66/NRD90M/Galaxy S7/GBoard 6.4.14.162163308. While in the bad state, the textarea lacks the orange focus highlight and blinking cursor (although it has a blue selection handle).

I can take a look. Do we know for sure that version 7 (Nougat) is the first working version? I've run into a bug where a PopupWindow will dismiss on Marshmallow and later but not Lollipop and earlier. My gut feeling is that this is due to something similar.

Ah, I see changwan@ has noted that it is indeed broken in 6, which means 7 would be the first working version. I was able to repro on a test device running Jelly Bean on 60 but not master (which is about to be cut for 62). It looks like the fix is also in Chrome 61 beta so this should be fixed in M61. |
